Dr. Vincent L. Smith
Dr. Vincent Smith was born in Kansas City, Kansas, and grew up in northern Virginia. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology and Microbiology from the University of Kansas and his dental degree in 1988 from the Medical College of Virginia. He received his orthodontic certification and Master of Science degree in 1990 from the University of Detroit Mercy.
Dr. Smith is involved in numerous professional and community activities and lives in Fayetteville. He has been happily married for 25 years and has three handsome sons, Collin, Brendan, and Austin. He enjoys snowboarding, biking, soccer, basketball, and the beach, but his greatest joy is his family.
He has been known to ask his former patients in public places about their retainers—hopeful they are still wearing them. His goal is to give his patients the attention they deserve while providing excellent orthodontic results, every day!
Dr. Brian Kurtzner
Dr. Brian Kurtzner was born and raised just outside of Albany, NY. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry from Le Moyne College. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and then proceeded to obtain a Master of Science degree and certificate in Orthodontics all through University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.
Growing up as a patient, and later an employee of his uncle’s orthodontic practice, Dr. Kurtzner has always held a strong appreciation for the impact of orthodontics on patients’ lives. He strives to create a friendly and comfortable atmosphere while providing the highest quality care for his patients.
Dr. Kurtzner and his wife Justine, a Tully native, met while attending Le Moyne College. After spending nearly 10 years in Buffalo, they were excited to make their way back to Central New York and are now the proud parents of two amazing children, Dominic and Elena. Dr. Kurtzner loves cheering on the Buffalo Bills, Syracuse Orange, and watching English Premier League soccer. He enjoys hiking, skiing, and traveling as well as spending time with family and friends. Dr. Greg J. Stock
Dr. Greg Stock is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland Dental School. His orthodontic degree is from the University of Michigan. Dr. Stock is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He is a member of the Onondaga County and Oswego County Dental Societies.
An engineer at heart, Dr. Stock loves incorporating new technologies such as 3D printing and customized braces into the practice. He believes these advances empower the doctors to deliver beautiful smiles in less time, and with no putty impressions!
Dr. Stock considers himself a “local-in-law” as his wife, Anne, is a Syracuse native. He loves to travel with his wife and two daughters, Claire and Lauren. He says that he gets along so well

Founded in 1955 by Dr. John “Jack” Callahan, Sr., SKS Orthodontics has been a cornerstone of exceptional orthodontic care in our community for over six decades. Following in his father’s esteemed footsteps, Dr. John D. Callahan Jr., affectionately known as “Dr. John,” joined the practice in 1982, continuing the tradition of excellence.
As our practice expanded to meet growing patient needs, we welcomed Dr. Thomas Flanagan in 1987, followed by Dr. Vincent Smith in 1990. This dynamic team led to the renaming of our practice to Callahan, Callahan, Flanagan, and Smith Orthodontics. Upon Dr. Jack’s retirement in 1991, the practice evolved to Callahan, Flanagan, and Smith Orthodontics, maintaining our commitment to top-tier patient care.
Our legacy of innovation continued with the addition of Dr. Greg Stock in 2011, transforming us into Callahan, Flanagan, Smith & Stock Orthodontics. As Dr. Flanagan approached his well-deserved retirement after 33 years of dedicated service, we welcomed Dr. Brian Kurtzner in 2018, ensuring our practice remained at the forefront of orthodontic advancements. Embracing change and growth, we rebranded as SKS Orthodontics, a name synonymous with the same exceptional care our patients have known and loved.
In early 2024, Dr. John retired to take on the prestigious role of President of the American Association of Orthodontists, a testament to his lifelong dedication to advancing the field. His leadership extended beyond our practice, having served as past president of the Northeast Society of Orthodontics (NESO), representing New York, the New England states, and the eastern Canadian provinces.
For over 65 years, our dedicated team of doctors and patient care specialists has been committed to creating beautiful, healthy smiles. We are proud to have been a part of thousands of smile transformations, contributing to the confidence and well-being of our community.
